4-H Youth Development in Anne Arundel County

4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization, empowering young people to lead, learn, and serve. The University of Maryland Extension’s 4-H program helps youth ages 5-18 reach their fullest potential through research-backed, hands-on learning experiences that build life skills, leadership, confidence, and meaningful connections to their communities. In Anne Arundel County, youth participate in 4-H through volunteer-led clubs, school and after-school programs, and community events. Maryland 4-H programs vary by county and may be offered through clubs, camps, after-school programs, fairs, school partnerships, and community organizations. Volunteer with 4-H

4-H Volunteers are a key component of the 4-H program, which focuses on citizenship, leadership, and life skills development using a “learn by doing” educational model. With each volunteer comes knowledge, experiences, and skills that can be taught to 4-H youth and shared with the 4-H program.

No matter your background or expertise, you can join the 4-H community. As a parent, a project leader, or in any other leadership capacity, you can offer your unique talents and perspectives. You decide the level of involvement that fits your skills and schedule.
