Many counties have councils or other groups that focus on food issues. Reach out to the group in your county and inquire about future meeting dates to get involved.
Local Food Policy Councils bring together community members, government and non-profit organizations, and local food producers to solve food systems and food security issues.
Local Health Improvement Coalitions are groups of local community members, and organizations such as hospitals and local health departments as well as other stakeholders with a focus on improving community health. Several counties in Maryland have an active food insecurity subcommittee that serves similar to a Food Council.
