  • Self-Service Activities: in Workday: Updating your Worker Profile and completing pre-onboarding tasks. (Example: I9 Verification / Uploading Documents)
  • Retirement Plan Selection: Be sure to select your retirement plan by your first workday, or you will be defaulted to the State Employees' Pension System. Retirement plans (Pension / ORP) are now elected in Workday. Supplemental plans will still be elected outside of Workday.
  • Directory ID: Find your University Directory ID by entering your name in the online directory. If a campus email has been created for you, your ID will be the beginning of your email address.
  • Review Employee Resource Systems: Before starting your new role at UMD, take a moment to review important HR, benefits, and payroll resources to ensure you're fully prepared.

Explain UME orientation checklist and reporting procedures. 
Discuss Univeristy of Maryland Extension, Mission, philosophy, etc. 
Review and clarify job responsibilities based on position description. 
*Review the collaborative supervision system between the Program Leader (PL) and Area/County/City Extension Director (A/CED). 
Explain office procedures (including equipment, supplies, and materials) as well as office standards (including appropriate dress). 
*Review Google Calendar expectations 
Discuss College of AGNR August orientation for new faculty members (2.5-day bus tour) 
Set in-person meetings for next week and months ahead.

Review a summary of resources such as websites, webinars, etc., specific to the program area.  
Discuss College of AGNR August orientation for new faculty members (2.5-day bus tour) 

Make available program development resources as well as Individual Extension Plan (IEP) and Curriculum Vitae (CV) templates and samples.
