White drupelet* disorder-Part of berry is white
Sunburn (a.k.a white drupelet disorder) of bramble fruit may occur during periods of dry, sunny, breezy, hot weather. Excess UV radiation scalds the fruit. Individual drupelets become white or tan in color and hard. It's most frequently seen on the east side of rows oriented north to south.
If a small percentage of the drupelets are affected the fruit is still edible and can also be used in recipes.
*Drupelet – A small drupe (a one-seeded, fleshy fruit), the unit making up the fruit (Examples - raspberry, blackberry).
