    April Gardening Tips

    Avoid or minimize any spring debris clean-up in native plant gardens, and don't prune spring-flowering shrubs until after flowers have faded. Warm-season vegetable crops can be planted later this month as the air and soil temperatures stay warmer. Culled cover crops make a great mulch, but don't cut down flowering bulb foliage until it's withered on its own. Fescue lawn mowing season starts, so sharpen mower blades.
