Canned Pumpkin 5 Ways

Three photos on how to use pumpkin -- in a soup, in pancakes and a curry with whole grain noodles in a colorful bowl.

Soup
Try something new for lunch or dinner. Add canned pumpkin to chicken or vegetable broth along with some garlic and onion. Serve with a salad or sandwich on whole grain bread!

Pancakes
Add canned pumpkin to pancake mix to boost nutrition. Spice it up with some cinnamon for a delicious breakfast everyone will be sure to love! Top with low-fat yogurt, a drizzle of honey, or chopped nuts.

Pasta
Add canned pumpkin and spices like nutmeg, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper to pasta dishes to make a flavorful sauce. Try adding pumpkin to canned tomato sauce, a jar of pasta sauce, or to cooked rice.

Curry
Create a satisfying, one-pot meal with canned foods. Spice up drained, canned chickpeas with garlic powder, cumin, and curry powder. Add to a large pot along with equal amounts of canned pumpkin, low-fat milk and vegetable or chicken broth. Serve your pumpkin curry over cooked rice or pasta!

Oatmeal
Make this hearty breakfast and feel full all morning long. Add some canned pumpkin and a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice to cooked oatmeal. Top with sliced bananas or a spoonful of applesauce.
