Description: If you're interested in getting certified for writing nutrient management plans as a farmer, you might want to consider the Nursery Operator Certification (FTC) program. This program provides training for writing a nutrient management plan for your nursery, greenhouse, or controlled environment. If your agricultural business earns $2,500 or more per year in sales, you'll need to write a nursery nutrient management plan. With this certification, you can submit your own plan and annual implementation reports. To get certified, you'll need to attend a Training Day on Thursday, January 18, 2024. There, you'll learn the plan-writing process. After the training day, you'll have about five weeks to study the Nursery Nutrient Management Training Manual and work on your plan. The Exam/Sign-off Day will be announced later, where you'll review your newly developed plan (or renew your old plan) and become certified by the Maryland Dept of Agriculture (MDA).
Registration: To register, please email Dr. Andrew Ristvey (aristvey@umd.edu) with your business name and phone number before January 12, 2024. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or call me at 410-827-8056 x113. If you require any accommodations for the program, please let me know by January 4th.
