Harford County Home Gardening and Master Gardeners

Harford County Master Gardeners

Ask a Master Gardener Plant Clinics are held each Saturday at the Bel Air Farmer's Market!

Master Gardeners (MGs) are volunteer representatives of the University of Maryland Extension and are supervised and supported by University of Maryland Extension staff.  MGs receive extensive horticulture training and commit to be volunteer partners with the University to help educate residents how to be better gardeners and improve their environmental stewardship with home gardening and landscaping through several approaches, including:

  • Technical assistance for diagnosing weed and insect problems, and recommendations for healthy landscapes at local Plant Clinics and Farmers Markets.

  • Classes and workshops on a variety of gardening and lawn care topics such as growing vegetables, attracting pollinators, composting and fertilizing.

  • Information from Bay Wise-certified Master Gardeners on creating a healthy Chesapeake Bay watershed with healthier gardens and landscapes through use of native plants and sustainable practices .
