Want to be a 4-H Camp Counselor?

What does it take to become a Frederick County 4-H Camp Counselor?

  • 30 hours of leadership training is required. 
  • Training will include a mix of virtual, self-paced , and in-person sessions running between February and July.
  • Camp runs Week  #1 - July 14-18; Week #2 - July 21-25 - 8:00 am - 6:00 pm for Counselors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise small groups of children
  • Ensure the safety of campers
  • Plan and implement activities
  • Monitor pool safety
  • Use positive strategies to redirect camper behavior
  • Comply with camp staff policies

Qualifications include:

  • Patience
  • Caring
  • Enthusiasm for making a positive impact on children
  • Relevant experience, such as volunteering with children, coaching sports, or leading youth groups, is a plus, but not required
