Through education, research, and outreach-- teaching people about issues related to their home, family and health overall. Extension educators strive to teach and empower people so that they can help themselves. . . to strengthen their own families and build their own communities.  Our offerings are research-based and non-biased-- so we are sure to provide you with reliable information that you can trust.

Family and Consumer Sciences Educators offer programming to address multiple issues relevant to families today.  Two main areas are:

  • Being Money Smart: Being a smart consumer means learning what you can so that you are prepared to make smart choices-- whether you are making a purchase, saving money toward a goal, improving your credit, using a budget/spending plan, or learning new habits that will help you to mange your money.
  • Being Health Smart:  Learning about ways to create a healthy home environment can improve your health and that of your family members; Healthy Homes programs can help you to learn ways to keep your home dry, clean, pest-free, safe, contaminant-free, well-maintained, and properly ventilated. Other programs address household chemical safety, making and using "greener cleaners", and awareness of poison look-alikes.
