Permeable Pavers

Definition Permeable pavers or porous pavement reduce runoff volume by allowing water to filter through open voids in the pavement surface to a washed gravel subsurface storage reservoir. This allows the water to slowly infiltrate into the underlying soils or exit via an underdrain. In addition to mitigating water quantity issues, this type of paving helps to treat water quality through infiltration and filtration mechanisms.
