Manure Summary Report (2026)

Introduction

The University of Maryland Agricultural Nutrient Management Program compiled and summarized manure and compost analyses that were used to develop nutrient management plans from 2017 through 2026. Samples were categorized by livestock species or compost, and their solid, semi-solid, or liquid status. Each manure type includes the number of samples used to calculate the average values.

The report provides the mean, minimum, maximum, and median percentages for total nitrogen (Total N), ammonium nitrogen (Ammonium-N), phosphate ( P2O5), potash ( K2O), and moisture. In some situations the manure summary report may be used instead of a laboratory manure or compost analysis to develop a nutrient management plan. For guidance on the use of these values, see 'Is a lab analysis required for my organic nutrient source?'
