Kent County 4-H Clubs

Thank you for your interest in the Kent County 4-H Program! We are excited to share all of the opportunities that the 4-H Program offers. Here are a few steps in helping you become an official 4-H member:

1. Have you attended your first Kent County 4-H Club Meeting, or have you selected a club you would like to join? This would be the monthly meeting you would attend. This is the first step in joining the 4-H Program and making the connections with the 4-H Club Leaders, who are a great resource in helping you join 4-H.
2. After you have attended your first club meeting or selected your club, the next step is registering through the Maryland 4-H Online Enrollment system. When registering through this site, you will need to create a family account. You will then be directed to set up each 4-H/Clover Member and any UME Volunteers under the family name. Make sure you write down your login information, as this is what you will use each year to enroll in the Kent County 4-H Program.
3. After you set up your account and register a family member who will be a part of the 4-H Program, you will be directed to pay an annual participation fee of $10 per 4-H member. This must be paid online to complete your enrollment.
4. Make sure you receive a confirmation email that you are now enrolled in the Kent County 4-H Program. You can log in at any time to check your status, as it will show everyone as SUBMITTED/AWAITING REVIEW and when they have been approved to join the 4-H Program you will then see APPROVED.
5. Once you become an active member in the Program, you will start receiving the 4-H Updates and the 4-H newsletter. You will receive this either through email or by mail, depending on what you selected when setting up your account.
6. New 4-H members can enroll any time of year. However, you must enroll by June 1st of the current year to be eligible to participate in the Kent County Fair as a 4-H'er.

Kent County 4-H re-enrollment must be completed by March 1 of the current year to remain eligible as a 4-H member. If you are a 4-H Member participating in any State Events, you MUST be enrolled in 4-H Online to be eligible to participate in your contest.

Each family login information remains the same each year, so please make sure you use your email address you set up your account with to login.

If you have forgotten your password, there is an option on the login page has an option to reset it for you.

As you enroll for the current year, make sure you enroll every 4-H Member, Clover, and UME Volunteer in your family.

If the 4-H Member is in more than one club, make sure to check off which club is their primary club. 

Project Areas – You only have one chance to add/delete projects in your 4-H Member's enrollment. Double-check that you have selected everything that they may be involved in during the year. If you need project changes after approval, send an email to our office by June 1.  

When you are ready to check out of 4-H Online, you will need to pay the $10 4-H Enrollment Fee online. You will automatically be taken to the next screen to make payment.

You will receive a confirmation email once the enrollment has been accepted by the Kent County Extension Office accepts your enrollment. You can log in to your account; the status for each member/volunteer will change from SUBMITTED/AWAITING REVIEW to APPROVED.

Please note: The state must first approve volunteer screenings before the county can approve any UME 4-H volunteers.

Clovers is a 4-H hands-on program for youth ages 5-7 years old to explore their world, learn character and cooperation, and begin to serve others.  The program meets at varying times.

4-H is now offering short-term virtual summer activity clubs! Clubs will run for six to eight sessions, one hour each session. Youth will build strong connections with peers and caring adults in a safe, inclusive environment in 4-H. We’ll share our knowledge and passion for some of our favorite topics and hope members come ready to participate, as our meetings will be very interactive. These 4-H clubs are virtual statewide 4-H clubs that meet via Zoom.  Youth are members in their home county.

4-H took root over a century ago by empowering youth to lead. Lead with confidence and strength, with the curiosity to question and capability to find answers, with the grit to get the job done and humble pride to make sure it’s done right. Most of all, these youth understand that giving back can move an entire community forward. These are the young people that we call True Leaders. 

And at 4-H, we understand that true leaders aren’t born, they’re grown.

America is facing a critical need for more leaders – true leaders – prepared with the skills to deal with the problems of today and the challenges of tomorrow.  Every child has the potential to be a true leader. 4-H gives young people experiences – where they can learn by doing, grow from failure, express their ideas, and lead. We tap into their potential and empower them to become true leaders. 

The Kent County 4-H program continues to teach youth skills, preparing them for the future as they follow our motto “To Make the Best Better.”

Though the 4-H program is traditionally agriculture-based, today's 4-H programming reaches across a wide variety of youth interests, from archery to horses, to horticulture, to robotics, to public speaking; and youth do not have to live on a farm or own an animal to be involved in 4-H.  Currently the program offers over 80 different project areas, with main focuses in the areas of STEM, Agriculture, Healthy Living, and Civic Engagement.

The mission of 4-H is to teach youth citizenship, leadership, and life skills so that they develop into competent, caring, compassionate, and contributing citizens. Our 4-H youth attend local club meetings, participate in educational activities, and work with 4-H projects throughout the year.
