Real Man Stories and the Rambles of the Crops Master come straight from real life on the U.S. Naval Academy Dairy Farm, from 1980 until the cows were sold in 1998, and from years of working with farm families through University of Maryland Extension from 2001–2025. These stories tell the hard, sometimes funny truths of farm life—with a little sarcasm thrown in for good measure. “Real Man” and "Crops Master" aren't just one person, but a stand-in for all those who’ve put in the work caring for God’s good earth. The tales grew out of a quarterly Extension newsletter written for farmers in Anne Arundel and Prince George’s Counties over twenty-five years.
