University of Maryland Extension

November 16, 2020

To our Dorchester County Constituents:

Given Governor Hogan’s directives on Nov 10, 2020, Extension in Dorchester County is reverting to telework. Our commitment to provide the services you need in a timely and effective manner has not changed! In the interest of safety for our staff and the community, we are still able to hold virtual meetings, training sessions, house and farm calls (with social distancing & masks), field questions via phone or email, and provide our monthly newsletter. As members of your community, we want to serve in manners consistent with health and safety measures as determined by the CDC and required by the County and State level health officials. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

You can find our office personnel with their roles and emails here.
If you need more information or have questions, please email Lisa Trice at ltrice@umd.edu

Welcome to the...

University of Maryland Extension - Dorchester County

Welcome to the University of Maryland Extension (UME) of Dorchester County.  We strive to deliver “Solutions in your community” by providing educational programs and problem-solving assistance based on the research and experience of land grant universities on agricultural production, natural resources, food safety, nutrition and healthy lifestyles, youth development, volunteer development and agricultural nutrient management.  This is accomplished via consultations, fact sheets, community 4-H clubs and programs for youth, workshops, courses, and newsletters.

Robert Baldwin, Area Extension Director

The University of Maryland Extension is a partnership among the United States Department of Agriculture, land-grant universities and local governments in each state. Faculty and staff of University of Maryland Extension (UME) provide research-based information, educational programs and services on a variety of subject areas.

These areas include Agriculture, 4-H Youth Development, Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), Environment & Natural Resources, Water & Chesapeake Bay, Money, Gardening, and Health & Wellness.

There is an Extension office located in each of Maryland’s 23 counties as well as Baltimore City.  Our mission is to provide "solutions in your community."
