University of Maryland Extension

To our Dorchester County Constituents:

I am so pleased to let you know that the Dorchester County Extension Office is open, but for appointments only. We are currently operating in a hybrid mode to ensure social distancing and minimal contact amongst our faculty, staff, and the public. So please know the person that you need to see may not be available on a given day. Please communicate directly with that person and they can schedule you. Our office doors are locked, so if you have an appointment, please notify the person who your meeting is with upon your arrival and someone will meet you downstairs. Please know that we are expected to practice social distancing and wear masks, and ask that you do the same during any current visit to the Extension office. Thank you for your patience during these interesting times!

UMD Extension is the community outreach arm of the University of Maryland, we have been serving Maryland's neighborhoods and residents for over 100 years, and despite the recent changes, Extension remains committed to our most valuable resource... the people and communities we work with throughout Dorchester County.

You can find our office personnel with their roles and emails here.
If you need more information or have questions, please email Lisa Trice at You may also call and leave a message at 410-228-8800.

University of Maryland Extension - Dorchester County

Welcome to the University of Maryland Extension (UME) of Dorchester County.  We strive to deliver “Solutions in your community” by providing educational programs and problem-solving assistance based on the research and experience of land grant universities on agricultural production, natural resources, food safety, nutrition and healthy lifestyles, youth development, volunteer development and agricultural nutrient management.  This is accomplished via consultations, fact sheets, community 4-H clubs and programs for youth, workshops, courses, and newsletters.

Robert Baldwin, Area Extension Director

The University of Maryland Extension is a partnership among the United States Department of Agriculture, land-grant universities and local governments in each state. Faculty and staff of University of Maryland Extension (UME) provide research-based information, educational programs and services on a variety of subject areas.

These areas include Agriculture, 4-H Youth Development, Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), Environment & Natural Resources, Water & Chesapeake Bay, Money, Gardening, and Health & Wellness.

There is an Extension office located in each of Maryland’s 23 counties as well as Baltimore City.  Our mission is to provide "solutions in your community."
