Everyone loves summer! No school! No homework! But this excitement can quickly turn to boredom.

Maryland SNAP-Ed invites your family to join in a reading adventure to beat the boredom blues. Read along with other families across the state to discover how to make your days more active and fun, all year long.

Read The Secret to an Extraordinary Day

The Bland Family’s summer is off to an ordinary start, until a mysterious note sends them on an unexpected adventure. Read the book together as a family!

  • Students at SNAP-Ed education sites received a free copy of the book through school!
  • Not a SNAP-Ed site? View the read aloud together as a family.

Take the Extraordinary Day Challenge

  • Download the Extraordinary Adventure Passport.
  • Write your family’s name(s) at the top.
  • See how many of the activities your family can check off each month. Be sure to write in your own favorite activities!
  • Once you complete the passport, click on the “Get your Extraordinary Party Package” button to receive a prize for your family!

 Take a tour of Maryland to enjoy free or low-cost activities with your family.  How many places can you check off the list?

Keep Moving

  • QR code that directs the user to opt into the Text2BHealthy program when scanned with the camera phone.
    1. Open the camera app on your phone.
    2. Point the camera at the QR code.
    3. Tap the link that appears. Don’t see a link? Tap the screen.
    4. Click send on the text message that opens.
    5. You are now enrolled!
