When volunteers are essential to an organization or program such as Extension, a primary component of
volunteer engagement should be recognition. Recognition is the “R” in the ISOTURE Model of Volunteer Administration and defined as “the process of recognizing and rewarding volunteers for their contribution and performance. This includes ongoing recognition through formal and non-formal methods” (Pleskac, 2010).
