Our Nutrition, Health and Wellness (NHW) program strives to create a health-promoting environment and to reduce modifiable lifestyle risk factors by helping youth and adults develop and maintain healthy eating and physical activity habits. Improving human health and nutrition is an important component of the University of Maryland Extension’s strategic goals. Nutrition needs change throughout a person’s life span and our educators provide nutrition information for every stage of life. Through research and evidence-based nutrition science, we help individuals and families meet their nutritional needs so they can live healthier and productive lives.
Our nutrition programs focus on (1) specific health risks, and (2) general nutrition needs to prevent future health issues and improve overall well-being. Through these educational programs, our goal is for individuals to acquire knowledge and skills to maintain a healthy lifestyle and the confidence to make informed choices in their daily lives.
