Description: A free event for all ages of sheep producers sponsored by Frederick County and Maryland Sheep Breeders in partnership with the University of Maryland Extension. Attendees will spend the day learning the basics of raising sheep and networking with other producers. Lunch will be provided.

Event: So You Want to Own Farmland in Maryland (Second of Two)

Description: This program will cover those legal issues that Maryland landowners may face. A grant funds the program through the Northeast Risk Management Education Center.
The workshop will feature Paul Goeringer, a Principal Faculty Specialist and Extension Specialist in agricultural law. He will address leasing, landowner liability issues, right-to-farm law, fencing laws, livestock liability, and estate planning. The workshops will also involve research related to solar development by Elizabeth Thilmany, a Faculty Specialist in AREC.
Lunch is provided with the workshop. This workshop will begin at 9 am with a check-in, and the workshop will run from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Land in Maryland: Basic Legal Issues for All Landowners (ONLINE COURSE FOR LANDOWNERS)
The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AREC) has released a new online course for rural landowners in Maryland. The So You Want to Own Farmland in Maryland course is now available through the University of Maryland’s Enterprise Learning Management System – Canvas. The free program will cover those legal issues that Maryland landowners may face. A grant funds the program through the Northeast Risk Management Education Center.

Virtual Forage Conference: Jan. 25 & 27, 2022
Description: The 2022 Maryland-Delaware Forage Conferences will be offered in virtually. The virtual sessions will follow the same format as last year and will take place over two partial days on January 25th and January 27th starting at 9 AM each morning. Certified crop advisor, nutrient management, and private pesticide applicator credits will be offered.
