Food Supplemental Nutrition Education (FSNE)

Worcester County’s Food Supplement Nutrition Education (FSNE) offers nutrition education programs to help Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) households and those eligible for SNAP. FSNE provides nutrition education to help low income individuals and families make healthy food choices; develop cooking skills; handle food safely; improve food shopping skills and increase their physical activity.

Many materials are available in both English and Spanish.

FSNE’s Five Initiative Areas

FSNE works with organizations in these five areas, striving to provide lasting nutrition and physical activity messages that positively affect the participants, their families, and the wider community.

  • School Community Sites – schools with at least 50% free and reduce meals (FARMS) rates
  • Youth Out of School Time Sites – afterschool sites serving a low-income population or within a school that has at least a 50% FARMS rate
  • Preschool and Childcare Centers – centers serving a low-income population (e.g. Judy Centers, Head Start)
  • Food Assistance Sites – sites that provide food assistance for families and/or individuals (e.g. Department of Social Services, Community locations that provide food pantries/banks or food distribution)
  • Farmers' Markets
