The Watershed Stewards Academy (WSA) is a training program to empower residents to improve the quality of local waterways. By sharing resources, forming partnerships, and coordinating efforts, WSA works with a Consortium of Support Professionals, Master Watershed Stewards and their communities to reduce pollutants, infiltrate stormwater and restore natural systems. Currently, the Watershed Steward Academy is in Anne Arundel County, the National Capital Region, Howard County, Cecil County, St. Mary's County, and Harford County.
Teachers can receive 5 MSDE credits for completing the program.
The Academy provides Stewards with knowledge and expertise from lecturers, training in using watershed assessment tools for analyzing stormwater runoff, and hands-on experience leading stormwater management and behavior change projects. A consortium of experienced stormwater management practitioners provides Stewards with on-going support for their community projects. Stewards become community leaders in reducing harmful effects of polluted stormwater running off into our streams.
