Bioswales and Vegetated Open Channels

Open channel that conveys stormwater runoff and provides treatment as the water is conveyed. Runoff passes through either vegetation in the channel, subsoil matrix, and/or is infiltrated into the underlying soils. In their simplest forms, bioswales are long, linear infiltration systems that receive and absorb stormwater runoff from impervious surfaces. They are heavily planted with native vegetation are not mulched.
