Camping Program

Due to COVID-19 ALL Camping Programs have been suspended for 2020.

The Washington County 4-H Youth Development program provides "camping" opportunities for all youth in Washington County despite 4-H club membership. The 4-H Team strives to provide high quality educational experiences during out of school time (spring break and summer vacation) for your child while focusing on a variety engaging topics and 4-H project areas.
Through participation in our camping program, your child will:

  • Work with trained faculty, staff and volunteers of the University of Maryland Extension and program collaborators,
  • Engage in experiential learning opportunities focused on the 4-H Mission Mandates of Science, Citizenship and Healthy Living including:
    • Utilize the engineering design process and scientific method
    • Become aware of the importance of agriculture and conservation
    • Develop an appreciation for the environment and an understanding of animal science and care issues
    • Take part in activities designed to strengthen their understanding of health and wellness,
  • Learn , practice and develop a variety of life skills including:
    • Cooperation and team work through group activities
    • Problem solving and learning through educational programs
    • Communication and demonstration skills through sharing their experiences
    • Goal setting and leadership for youth ages 12 and up!

Project Explorations! STEAM Day Camp is designed to create interest, explore curiosity, and gain knowledge about topics within science, technology, engineering, agriculture/art, and math.  Open to All Youth Ages: 5 to 11 (Must have completed Kindergarten, but not yet entered 6th grade) Camp will run Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Children will participate in a number of hands on activities and experiments and learn while doing.

*   $120 per Camper
*   $100 per additional child in a family
*   Daily Snacks and Drinks included
*   Campers must bring their own bagged lunch
