Fall Vegetable Garden

Now is the time to start planting your fall vegetable garden!  In the fall there is less pressure from weeds and insects and with a little care you can harvest into the winter. This link from our friends at Virginia Tech has some great general information about getting started with your fall garden:  http://pubs.ext.vt.edu/426/426-334/426-334.html  Here is a list of planting dates for vegetables in St. Mary's County

But don't forget to check out our Maryland Grow it Eat it website www.extension.umd.edu/growit for specific information about recommended cultivars and specific crops.  Learn about extending the season and protecting your soil with our publications about Floating Row Covers and Cover Crops!
