Keeping Safe

Accidents are easily avoidable. The leading cause of an unintentional death at home is falling, which The Centers for Disease Control estimates costs $34 billion a year associated with falls for people age 65. Accidental poisoning, choking, drowning and fire are also main causes of accidental deaths. Reducing the likelihood of accidents begins at home, making sure it is safer and healthier.

Quick tips to make your home a safer place:

  1. Use the Home Safety Checklist  [1]to review your home and see which areas can be made safer.
  2. Childproof Your Home  [2]using this room-by-room safety checklist.
  3. Store household cleaning products out of reach of pets and children. [3]
