The Sheridan Street Community Garden, operated by University of Maryland Extension, is located at the Center for Educational Partnership. With 47 plots, the garden serves individuals, families, and community groups such as the Maryland Multicultural Youth Center,  GapBuster Learning Center, and William Wirt Middle School. Gardeners use their plots to grow food; crops include tomatoes, okra, corn, peppers, watermelon, and more.  People sign up for their plots each spring and pay a nominal fee (currently $20.00) to cover the cost of shared expenses. Trainings are offered several times per year and gardeners are provided with water, compost, and tools. Monthly workdays offer chances for gardeners to come together and maintain common areas. Community members are invited to workdays and other garden events.
