Dr. Jesse Ketterman, Extension Educator for the University of Maryland Extension Office, recently completed the necessary requirements to receive AFC® (Accredited Financial Counselor®) certification from the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education® (AFCPE®).  The AFC designation demonstrates to colleagues, clients, employers, and the public that certified individuals have the knowledge and proficiency required of the financial counselor professional.  Professionals earn this distinction through education, experience, and by meeting the highest standards of social science and practice of professional financial counselors validated by their performance through examination.

As an Extension Educator, Dr. Ketterman provides financial literacy programs in the community.  Programs recently offered include Money Smart for Older Adults by the FDIC, Your Money, Your Goals by the CFPB, health insurance literacy programs through the University of Maryland Extension Health Insurance Literacy Initiative, and Building Wealth: A Beginner’s Guide to Securing Your Financial Future by the Federal Reserve of Dallas.  Dr. Ketterman also provides topic specific workshops such as financial aid, budgeting and credit.
