Gearbox Club robotics Team wins Baltimore Tournament!

The FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Team (FTC Team 7393, electron Volts) which is run by the Montgomery County Gearbox 4-H Club, won 1st place at a competition Sunday, December 15.

The kids have been meeting 2 or 3 times per week since September, and every night last week and all day Saturday, to get ready for this event. They prepared a 120 page engineering notebook describing their season plan, design, fabrication, software, outreach and fundraising. Of course they also built a robot and ran it in the competition. Their alliance of 3 teams placed first in the robot game, and their team was given the highest judged award at the event, called the "Inspire Award." This qualifies the team to go to the state level tournament on March 1, so the kids are very excited! They will continue meeting two or three times per week until March, and are hoping to qualify for the World Festival in April.
