Piney Run Nature Center
30 Martz Road
Sykesville, MD 21784

Event Type:
Carroll County Weed Warriors

The Carroll County Weed Warriors offer a free training class on the identification and removal of invasive exotic weeds. After the loss of habitat, the encroachment of invasive exotic weeds is the greatest threat to native wildlife and plants. This training is designed for adults and children middle-school-age and older, and includes a one-hour, on line training to be completed at home prior to the two-hour field training on June 27.

Participants from outside Carroll County are invited to attend even if they will not be joining the Carroll County Weed Warriors. Those who complete the training will be added to the the weed warrior list for notification of upcoming weeding sessions. Those who do not wish to be added to the list can mark that they are from outside Carroll County on the registration form.

Master Gardners and Master Naturalists completing the training will receive a copy of the 168-page Plant Invaders of Mid-Atlantic Natural Areas. Others completing the course will receive this book at their first weeding session.

To register and to receive instructions for accessing the online training, email .
