Disaster Assistance for Aquaculture

For anyone who participates in the USDA Non Insured Crop Disaster Assistance Plan (NAP) and think you may have losses from hurricane Florence, you are encouraged to file your loss with your local USDA-FSA office ASAP. The sooner you file, the sooner you could see an adjuster visit your farm.

It is also a good idea to keep track of salinity over the next few days and monitor losses which may be attributed to abnormally low salinity from the extraordinary amount of rain during the storm event.  This may be a covered loss in your area.

NAP provides financial assistance to producers of non-insurable crops when low yields, loss of inventory, or prevented planting occur due to natural disasters. For more information go to:

See NOAA's Disaster Assistance for Aquaculture handout under the Resources tab for more information along with links to various disaster relief programs.
