Cultivate Great Leaders

The Cultivate Great Leaders team planned, organized, and implemented two sessions for 2013 with 11 participants from across the state of Maryland.  The first session was held at University of Maryland Eastern Shore May 10-11, 2013.  Students were able to  experience an overnight stay on campus at the Henson Center and receive educational presentations by guest speakers on leadership, goal setting, veterinary and agricultural sciences during this event.

With the start of the school year, our participants joined us for our second Cultivate Great Leaders session held on September 14, 2013 at University of Maryland College Park and the Maryland 4-H Center.  Faculty and staff were able to speak on leadership development, the institute of applied agriculture, and plant sciences.  A campus tour was also arranged and offered students a perspective on residential college life.

Participants of this program will graduate in November 2013 at the Maryland 4-H Youth and Volunteer Forum.  Their upcoming graduation will conclude our MELD project and being able to see this youth leadership program through to fruition.
