Urban Gardening Program – Come Grow with Us!

The Urban Gardening (UG) initiative has been in partnership with Fresh Farm Market in downtown Silver Spring since 2015. This wonderful arrangement helps strengthen our Master Gardener presence among diverse and large populations, while the market venue gives the UG program ready access to a large audience and one with a keen interest in gardening.

Monthly UG activities attract both adults and children – on average between 100 and 150 – who stop by to learn, for example, about growing microgreens (with tasty samples), making self-watering containers with hands-on demonstrations, creating vertical gardens, and much more. Many of our visitors leave with something in hand (and free) -- a tender plant, herb sachets, microgreen grow kit.  View our monthly activities schedule here.
