4-H Camp Tawaswentha

July 14-19, 2019

Every year, Montgomery County 4-H takes campers out to western Maryland for five days of fun at Camp Tawasentha. Our camp is located amidst the Appalachian Mountains in Garrett County and is open to all youth (not just 4-H'ers) who are 8 to 13 years old as of January 1st, 2019.

We offer swimming, fishing, and canoeing on 24-acre Cunningham Lake, with a certified life guard present during all water fun and games. We have several nature trails and a nature education center, and campers can enjoy educational hikes led by a trained naturalist. Campers looking for a challenge can experience our outdoor confidence course, designed to help campers safely test their physical abilities and gain team building skills. We also have a rifle and archery range with certified instructors. There is a sports field where we play games, a basketball court, and a volleyball court. We have a spacious lodge hall for meetings and rainy day games and a large outdoor campfire area where we hold a special end-of-camp celebration to honor our campers' achievements. We also offer craft classes, leatherworking, multiple group activities, and we provide our culinary-inclined campers a chance to learn outdoor cooking skills.

Camp Tawasentha has twelve cabins and a dining hall overlooking the lake, top-of-the line kitchen facilities, and two large shower houses with bathrooms. We also have an infirmary with a registered nurse on site.

If you're looking to have a great time this summer, come out with us to Camp Tawasentha!
