Anne Arundel County Family and Consumer Sciences Program

The University of Maryland Extension Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) program strives to ensure that all Maryland residents are healthy and economically successful at every stage of life through education, research, and outreach programs. We accomplish this by working with youth and families to prevent and manage chronic diseases through healthy food and physical activity choices, handling food safely, teaching financial and health insurance literacy, and creating safe and healthy places to live, work, play, and learn.

Mindfulness Programs

The program utilizes evidence-based information on mindfulness approaches to prevent chronic stress and burnout. The direct education programs are geared towards families, professionals, and adults. The program is also offered to specialized groups such as addiction recovery.

The mindfulness training program provides both in-person and virtual opportunities for agencies, worksites, educators, and other professionals to infuse mindfulness with their clientele. This is not a curriculum but a practical discussion on ways to apply mindfulness in any environment.
