Filling out the new Notice of Intent (CAFO permit)

Author:
Jarrod Miller

The General Discharge Permit for CAFO's and large MAFO's expired on November 30, 2014. Those who are currently registered under the permit have until January 30, 2015 to file a new notice of intent (NOI) with the Maryland Department of Environment. Some of the information may be difficult to find so we have created a document to help fill out the NOI (see below under documents). The NOI will give your operation coverage for another five years. Be sure to check your nutrient managment and comprehensive nutrient managment plans to see if they are updated. MDE will contact you and request these plans as needed.

The most recent NOI form (December 1, 2014) can be found on the MDE website. Click here for the form. If you have any questions about the NOI form, please contact the AFO unit of MDE.
