Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station

The Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station (MAES) funds research conducted by faculty located within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, University of Maryland at College Park. MAES' 10 research facilities are grouped into four research centers by geographical regions.

University of Maryland Extension

University of Maryland Extension (UME) is a statewide, non-formal education system within the college of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. UME educational programs and problem-solving assistance are available to citizens and are based on the research and experience of land grant universities such as The University of Maryland.

NRCS - USDA

NRCS works with landowners through conservation planning and assistance to benefit the soil, water, air, plants, and animals for productive lands and healthy ecosystems. Field offices at USDA Service Centers are in nearly every county in the Nation.

Maryland Department of Agriculture

Headquarters of the MDA is in Annapolis, but branch offices are located at several strategic sites around the state in order to serve local needs. MDA programs may be regulatory, public service, or educational in nature. All are intended to provide the maximum protection possible for the consumer as well as promote the economic well-being of farmers, food and fiber processors and businesses engaged in agricultural related operations.

Maryland Soil Conservation Districts

Promote practical and effective soil, water, and related natural resources programs to all citizens through individual conservation districts on a voluntary basis through leadership, education, cooperation, and local direction.

Maryland Department of the Environment

The mission of the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) is to protect and restore the quality of Maryland’s air, water, and land resources, while fostering smart growth, economic development, healthy and safe communities, and quality environmental education for the benefit of the environment, public health, and future generations.

The Equiery

The Equiery is an independently owned and operated information and advertising publication for the Maryland equestrian community. The Equiery is published 12 times a year (monthly), and is distributed, free, in tack shops and feed shops in & around Maryland.

Thoroughbred Charities of America

TCA is a charitable organization that provides grants to non-profit organizations that work toward improving the lives of Thoroughbred racehorses and the people who work with them. TCA offers the Thoroughbred industry and its supporters a way to give to one organization while helping many.

SARE - USDA

Since 1988, the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program has helped advance farming systems that are profitable, environmentally sound and good for communities through a nationwide research and education grants program.

Chesapeake Bay Trust

The mission of the Chesapeake Bay Trust is to promote public awareness and public participation in the protection and restoration of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributary rivers and streams. Our goal is to increase stewardship through grant programs, special initiatives, and partnerships that support environmental education, demonstration based restoration, and community engagement activities.

Maryland Horse Industry Board

In January of 1998 the Maryland Horse Council created proposed legislation for the formation of a Maryland Horse Industry Board to work with the Department of Agriculture, to function as a commodity board for the development of the industry. In April of 1998, the proposed legislation was passed into law. The purpose of the Maryland Horse Industry Board is to help develop and promote the state’s horse industry. The Maryland Department of Agriculture and other interested parties can make recommendations to the Governor’s office, but ultimately the appointments are at the Governor’s discretion.
