Support for HGIC

The Home and Garden Information Center (HGIC) is a state-wide program that provides outreach education to Maryland residents and beyond.

Our Mission: Develop and deliver science-based, sustainable gardening and integrated pest management education for better human and environmental health.

The Home and Garden Information Center has experienced an incredible surge in the number of gardening questions to our Ask Extension platform and visitors to our website since March.

More people than ever before have discovered or rediscovered nature and gardening. And we are very thankful! But this good fortune has pushed our resources to the limit. Budget cuts and the UMD hiring freeze has further impaired our ability to meet the needs of Marylanders.

Many people have asked how they can show their appreciation for the outreach education that we provide. Go to and make a tax deductible donation through the University of Maryland College Park Foundation to support the Home and Garden Information Center!

Your generosity and support of our program will make a difference! Go Terps!
