  • Ballenger Creek Park Community Garden - Located at 5420 Ballenger Creek Pike in Frederick,  This organic garden is sponsored by Frederick County Division of Parks and Recreation.  60- 15' by 15' plots. Cost $67 per year.

  • Brunswick Community Garden
    Located on East Potomac Street in Brunswick. 20 plots (5 currently available). Cost is $25 for each 4' x8' plot.

  • Frederick News Post Garden
    Located in Frederick and managed by the Frederick News Post. Approximately 130, including food bank plots and 22 children's plots. Each 12 by 14 ft plot is $50/yr and includes tilling, water and tools on site.

  • Homewood Community Garden - located in Frederick. Open to residents of Homewood Retirement Community.

  • Middletown Primary School Garden Project
    Open to students of the school, it was organized and is directed by a parent volunteer. The garden consists of 5 raised beds and the plants grown are linked to the school curriculum.

  • Monocacy Elementary School Community Garden
    Located in Frederick. Open to the students of the school, it was implemented by a parent volunteer who is now a teacher and continues to oversee the garden. It contributes to student learning and is linked to topics covered in the curriculum.

  • The Plant Nation of Frederick Urban Growers
    l256 S. Carroll Street in Frederick.  This is a community garden/CSA and the cost is $150 - $350 based on whether the member works at the garden or just receives produce.  Currently, there are 7 people involved but they are  seeking to have 12 members.  Contact: Laurie Zook (laurie.zook@gmail.com)
  • Stonebridge Community Garden
    Located in Frederick. Open to the residents of this housing community with costs shared by the gardeners.

  • NEW IN 2016 - Thurmont Community Garden (Organic garden sponsored by Thurmont Green Team and the Town of Thurmont)
    Conveniently located in Carroll Street Park at the intersection of Easy Street and North Carroll Street. Each plot is about 9' x 11' for an annual fee of $25. Multiple plots are available. Registration begins February 1st. Forms can be picked up and returned to Jim Humerick at the Thurmont Municipal Building at 615 East Main Street or by email.   • Village of Foxfield Community Garden
    Located in Middletown. Open to the residents of this housing community. Water fee and the cost of any necessary improvements is shared, otherwise there is no charge. Contact: srossig@verizon.net

Gardens for Frederick City residents:

  • Hargett / West Side Regional Park - located at 6129 Butterfly Lane between Himes Avenue & McCain Drive and currently have fifty-five (55) plots available.
  • Willow Brook Park - located at 350 McClellan Drive in the Willow Brook subdivision off of Opossumtown Pike and currently has seventeen (17) plots available.

The Housing Authority of Frederick City also has ... Community gardens located in our two largest communities, Carver and Lucas Village. These gardens are open to all of our residents to grow their own food and come together in a beautiful, positive community environment. We support our resident gardeners with monthly gardening workshops in partnership with our Master Gardener volunteers from Frederick County Master Gardeners.  
 
GREEN VALLEY Y’s Giving Garden The YMCA of Frederick County will be working with Seeds of Life Nursery, the South Count Rotary, and the community to develop the Giving Garden on the Y’s property between Urbana Middle and High School on Fingerboard Rd in Urbana. Plots will be 15’x15’ and spaced 5’ apart. Minimal equipment will be available. 
There is a hand pump on site for water. Plowing will take place in March. Anticipated opening day is April 9, 2016.  Space is  limited, so contact us to reserve your plot!
  • Land will be tilled and plots laid out.
  • Participant provides tools and other resources.
  • Water is provided via hand pump.
  • Plots available 7 days a week from 7am-8pm.
