Securing Food Resources for Families

The Securing Food Resources for Families initiative is a comprehensive, multi-level intervention at targeted venues where low income individuals and families access emergency food and food resources.  Nutrition education will be provided to low income clients to help identify, select and prepare healthy foods for their family. This initiative focuses on changing the food environment at food assistance sites through training staff on how to identify, procure, and encourage selection of healthy foods.

The following programs are utilized with this initiative:

Cooking Matters at the Store, DHS Fliers, Fruits and Veggies: Fabulous Foods!, Healthy Cents, Market to Mealtime, Make the Healthy Choice the Easy Choice Pantry Staff/Volunteer Training and Nutrition to Go
