Text2BHealthy

Text2BHealthy messages reinforce FSNE school activities and nutrition education programs.

Text2BHealthy is a text messaging program that compliments direct nutrition education provided in elementary school classrooms.  Text messages are targeted for parents of school-aged children that are currently receiving nutrition education.  Text2BHealthy provides information to help reinforce nutrition information and behaviors that children are learning in the schools.  Text messages are targeted to the school/area and are behaviorally focused.  Messages consist of school activities, community information, physical activities and evaluation messages.

Sample text messages include:

To link with school activities:
“MSA testing begins this week @ Barclay.  Encourage your child to eat breakfast each morning.  A healthy meal will help them focus & feel better during the day!

For program evaluation:
MSA testing started last week at Barclay. Did your child eat breakfast (either at home or at school counts)? Reply with yes or no.”

 To provide community information:
“There is another FREE fresh produce giveaway tomorrow at 1 pm at the Western MD Food Bank on Frederick St. You will also get recipes to use with the produce! “

To link to FSNE school programs:
"Woodmoor K-4th graders learned about gardening & read Water, Weed & Wait!  Check your child's backpack for a newsletter & recipes to try at home with family!"
