Market to Mealtime: Partnering with Farmers’ Markets to Increase the Sales and Consumption of Fruits and Vegetables

Educators from the University of Maryland Extension’s (UME) Market to Mealtime program are working with farmers’ markets throughout the state to encourage shoppers to add nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables they might not have eaten before to their diets. Educators provide recipe cards and nutritional handouts alongside seasonal displays to help alleviate some of the intimidation that comes with trying new produce. Program materials also are appropriate for use at food banks and food pantries, or in conjunction with a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
