Also, please note that we cannot receive samples for insect, weed, and disease identification at our office or at our Diagnostic Lab on campus. For insect and weed identification, please contact Kelly Nichols (contact information above). For disease identification, please send pictures to Dr. Karen Rane, Director of the Diagnostic Lab, at rane@umd.eduWhen sending pictures, please make sure they are clear and taken close enough so we can adequately see the specimen in question. This only helps us provide you with a correct diagnosis!

Frederick County Jump Start Grants Program - Full-time Farmer Grants - $6,000 in one-time funds to qualifying full-time farmers. Full-time farmers qualify if they earned the majority of their gross income (51% or greater) from farming over the past two years. Applications will be accepted from 7:00 a.m. Thursday, May 28, until 11:59 p.m. Friday, June 5.

American Farmland Trust Farmer Relief Fund - Initially, eligible applicants include any small and mid-size direct-market producers. For additional and updated information, visit the website.

USDA Coronavirus Assistance Program (CFAP) - USDA is accepting applications for CFAP from May 26 through August 28, 2020. CFAP provides compensation for losses due to price declines that occurred between mid-January 2020 and mid-April 2020 due to COVID-19. Contact your Farm Service Agency (FSA) office to apply. U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) - UPDATE - Farms may now be eligible for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. Farms are still eligible for the Paycheck Protection Program. Another round of applications is opening Monday, April 27.
