Online Sustainable Viticulture Resources From USDA-NAL
The Alternative Farming Systems Information Center (AFSIC) at the USDA’s National Agricultural Library (NAL) has put together a new Web page on sustainable viticulture for growers and Extension personnel. Librarian and Maryland Cooperative Extension coordinator Stephanie Ritchie has created a virtual bibliography of private, governmental, and selected land-grant university Web sites from around the U. S. and Australia offering information and publications on sustainable practices for wine grape growing. The address is: http://afsic.nal.usda.gov/nal_display/index.php?info_center=2&tax_level=4&tax_subject=298&topic_id=1424& level3_id=5932&level4_id=10608&level5_id=0&placement_default=0.
- To access the site from this document from a PC, hold down the Cntrl key (a hand icon will appear) and click the hyperlink.
- To find the site without retyping the entire URL, go to http://afsic.nal.usda.gov. From that page, type “sustainable viticulture” into the Search box at the top of the left-hand column and press Go. A new window with search results will open. Click on the first entry to go to the Sustainable Viticulture page.
We hope this Web page will help to meet the increasing demand for information on growing wine grapes sustainably and would appreciate your feedback on its value and utility. We would also like the virtual bibliography to grow as new online resources appear. Please let Stephanie Ritchie know of new Web sites that might be added or of any problems you encounter in using the Web page. You may reach her by email at sboehmer@nal.usda.gov or by phone at 301- 504-6153.
