Urban farmer focus group: get a sneak peek at a new guidebook, and help us improve it!

Extension education is a community-engaged process. Our goal is to help you learn what you need to better achieve your goals. To be able to do this, we need to listen to you.

In 2018, we held focus groups where urban farmers shared their experiences with working towards financial viability. We combined that input with the knowledge and experience of five agricultural Extension educators, to develop a guidebook for urban farmers: From Surviving to Thriving: Risk Management Strategies for Urban Farm Success

This year, we would like to invite you to take a sneak peek at a draft version of that guidebook, and help us make it better.

The focus group should take 1 hour to complete. It is open to all individuals who are at least 18 years old and identify themselves as urban farmers.

Three focus groups are scheduled:

  • Tuesday, July 30, at noon (ONLINE focus group)

  • Wednesday, July 31, at 6:30 pm (ONLINE focus group)

  • Monday, August 5, at 6:30 pm (IN PERSON focus group, dinner provided, at 6615 Reisterstown Road, Baltimore)

The first edition of the final guidebook will be available for free, and focus group participants will be the first to get published copies. The

To register for one of the focus groups, fill out the form here: https://ume.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0MVabXgmm6kp5iJ

Please register by July 25, to give us time to mail a printed version of the draft guidebook to you.
