The University of Maryland Extension Program, St. Mary’s County Government Department of Public Works and Commission on the Environment are offering rain barrel and composting workshops to residents. The rain barrel session will focus on the practical uses for rain barrels and how they reduce the impact of runoff on our local waterways and the Chesapeake Bay. Participants will have the opportunity to purchase rain barrels, and learn the techniques for later installation. The composting session will include basic information/demonstration on starting to compost at home. We will also be hosting a workshop on residential septic systems - best management tips and Bay Restoration Fund financial resources for homeowners.

Join us for any one topic or all three!

Participants will have the opportunity to purchase compost bins and/or rain barrels and recieve information/ demonstrations on both topics and shoreline best management. Workshops will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds.
