Spring Thaw Workshop - Watershed Moments

Experts from private, state, federal and local government agencies will present topics covering flood risk management; the Ellicott City floods; stormwater implementation strategies to improve water quality; rain gardens and other homeowner scale stormwater management techniques;  riparian forest buffer restoration; stream health and local trout waters; tree care and pruning for storm resilience; an overview of the USDA Area-Wide Tick Integrated Pest Management Project; the interrelation between bees and trees; choosing the best trees for pollinators; and tips on how to protect bees and other pollinators when applying pesticides.  Several breaks throughout the day will provide an opportunity for meeting the speakers, socializing and visiting exhibitor tables.  Morning coffee and pastries, snacks, a hot lunch, and workshop materials are included in the registration fee.

Intended for participants ages 16+ (or attendees under 18 when accompanied by an adult).

Workshop has been approved for 4 Maryland Department of Agriculture Commercial/Public Agency Pesticide recertification credits. International Society of Arboriculture, Society of American Foresters, Maryland Department of Natural Resources Licensed Tree Expert, Maryland Master Gardener and Master Naturalist credits pending approval.
