Cecil County 4-H Swine Project Requirements

4-H Member & Project Enrollment

  • Cecil County & Maryland State Fair’s 4-H Member Project Enrollment Deadline is May 1st of the current year entered in 4-H Online
  • 4-H members are expected to regularly attend club meetings

BREEDING SWINE

Registration papers/lease must be in the individual 4-Hers name only! 

  • Cecil County Fair Ownership deadline June 1st of current year (Registration paper received by breed association)
  • Maryland State Fair Ownership deadline July 1st of current year (Registration paper received by breed association)
  • NO CLASSES OFFERED FOR COMMERCIAL BREEDING SWINE
  • 4-H Breeding Lease annual deadline June 1st of current year
  • Breeding Swine can be owned or leased but not both

MARKET SWINE

  • Cecil County Fair Market Animal Ownership deadline May 15th of current year
  • 4-H WEIGH IN WAIVED IN 2020, 4-H LIVESTOCK REGISTRATION FORM REQUIRED BY JUNE 1, 2020
  • Market swine must be owned
  • All market swine must be born after January 1st of the current year and must be castrated 

Completed Maryland 4-H Animal Husbandry & Quality Assurance Program by July 1st of current year if 1st year in project or if 4-H age 8, 11 or 14 as of 1/1 of current year

  • Juniors-Junior Program
  • Intermediates & Seniors-Part 1 and specific project species (Please make sure that you are logged in)

4-H Show Entry Deadlines:

  • Eastern Shore Spring Show Deadline-April 15th of current year-POSTPONED
  • Cecil County Breeders’ Fair Deadline-May 1st of current year-POSTPONED
  • Cecil County Fair Entry Deadline-July 1st of current year
  • Cecil County Fair 4-H Animal Exhibitor Orientation and Livestock Sale Meeting, June 3rd or June 8th, 2020.  Youth and a parent/guardian must attend if animal project stays entire week of fair.
  • Cecil County Fair Animal Exhibitor Setup, July 21, 2020
  • Maryland State Fair Entry Deadline-July 31st of current year (online only)
