Cecil County 4-H Horse Project Requirements

4-H Member & Project Enrollment

  • Cecil County & Maryland State Fair’s 4-H Member Project Enrollment Deadline is May 1st of the current year entered in 4-H Online
  • 4-H members are expected to regularly attend club meetings

Ownership Information

  • Cecil County Fair Ownership deadline June 1st of current year (Horse Identification Card received via online form)
  • Maryland State Fair Ownership deadline June 1st of current year
  • 4-H Horse Lease annual deadline June 1st of current year (If horse is not owned)
  • Horses can be owned or leased

Completed Maryland 4-H Animal Husbandry & Quality Assurance Program by July 1st of current year if 1st year in project or if 4-H age 8, 11 or 14 as of 1/1 of current year

  • Juniors-Junior Program
  • Intermediates & Seniors-Part 1 and specific project species (Please make sure that you are logged in)

4-H Show Entry Deadlines:

  • Cecil County Breeders’ Fair Deadline-May 1st of current year-POSTPONED
  • Cecil County Fair Entry Deadline-July 1st of current year (online only)
  • Cecil County Fair 4-H Horse Herdsman Orientation, June 10th or June 15th, 2020.  Youth and a parent/guardian must attend if horse project stays entire week of the fair.
  • Maryland State Fair Entry Deadline-July 31stof current year (online only)
    • Horse participants must complete levels 1-2 of the horsemanship knowledge standards & levels 1-3 of the horsemanship riding standards for specific discipline.
