Industrial Hemp

The University of Maryland is no longer accepting industrial hemp partnership applications at this time.

We have selected our partnering growers for 2019 and have actively begun plans for growing industrial hemp. The focus of our research is to determine the impact of fertilization on yield and plant quality of industrial hemp varieties grown for cannabidiol (CBD) production, specifically evaluating nitrogen rate in plants grown in soil and phosphorus rate in plants grown in soilless media.

We will routinely update this page with additional information about UMD’s research in 2019 and to advertise any tours or educational opportunities available to interested growers.
