How to Join 4-H

Step 1—Investigate

Look at our map and list of 4-H clubs in Allegany County and find one that interests you.

Step 2—Contact Us

Contact Jody Parrish at 301-724-3320 or email at jparrish@umd.edu at the University of Maryland Extension office.  She can connect you with the leader(s) for the club(s) in which you are interested. You can also make an appointment to visit the University of Maryland Extension office to discuss 4-H.

Step 3—Attend a Club Meeting

A club leader will usually ask you to attend a club meeting before joining. This is your chance to learn more about the club.

Step 4—Enroll

Once you have decided and discussed joining with the club leader, you can enroll yourself online. Please don't enroll yourself before discussing it with the club leader first. Parents should not enroll themselves in the system unless they are applying to be 4-H volunteers.

To be considered a member for the current year, you must be enrolled by September 1. To participate in the Allegany County Fair and Maryland State Fair as a 4-H member, you must be enrolled and participating by May 1 of the current year.
